One of the oldest crafts in the world, the art of glass, has evolved tremendously in recent years and incredible masterpieces are being created in this old yet new medium. Amaco offers square and round glass sheets, assorted shapes, mosaic chunks, noodles, a square and round slump mold, two kits for working with glass plus several new products including Stringers, Billets, Casting Mix and several tools . These items can be used with the two warm glass kilns from Amaco -- the GSF-045 and GSF-670. The AMACO Glass Kit #1, Glass Kit #2, the glass accessory products, and the warm glass kilns, give every craftsman the opportunity to create original pieces using this exciting medium. AMACO Kiln Shelf Wash is used to cover the mold surface as a glass separator. Use the colored piece(s) of glass as the bottom layer, then decorate the surface using the assorted glass shapes, Noodles or Mosaic Chunks. If you have a glass cutter, you can cut your own shapes from the colored glass. You can then cover your design with a sheet of clear glass or leave it uncovered before fusing it in the kiln. You can make other items besides square or circular plates without using the molds in the kits. If you have a glass cutter available, you can make coasters, jewelry or flat art pieces by fusing them on a kiln washed shelf. For a glass project to be successful, it is imperative that all the glass pieces used in the project have the same coefficient of expansion (COE). All the glass pieces in these kits are guaranteed compatible with a 90 COE. Using the Excel glass kilns, it is very easy to plan the firing schedule on the Glass Select Fire electronic kiln control unit.
