Click Here for a larger view: Wheel Throwing Heads The AMACO® Standard Throwing Head is cast aluminum, 12" in diameter and marked with concentric circles. The AMACO® Special Throwing Head Set is optional equipment recommended for replacing the standard throwing head when the potter's wheel is to be in constant use or adapted for jiggering. It consists of a recessed aluminum 10 1/2" wheel head (B) with rim and an aluminum mold (A) for casting 10 1/2" plaster or setstone bats to fit into the recessed wheel head. A pottery shape thrown on a standard wheel head must be lifted off with the hands causing possible damage to the piece or left to stiffen on the wheel before it can be removed safely. When thrown on a bat in the special recessed head, both pot and bat are removed together and set aside for drying. Both heads are also available with a 5/8" bore or 3/4" bore (special order only). If bore size is not specified, 5/8" bore will be supplied.
