Amaco's Friendly Plastic® Designer Challenge!

Deadline for Entry Submission: July 10, 2008 Winners announced August 1st, 2008 For more information, please contact Event Coordinator Cathy Carlin (ccarlin@amaco.com) AMACO is sponsoring an on-line challenge this summer to reintroduce you to the 80's retro modeling medium Friendly Plastic®. Because it's inexpensive, colorful, easy-to-use, and addictive, we thought the summer of near-recession would be a good time for designers to have fun with a new/old friend like Friendly Plastic®, made by AMACO. Because we have been donating entries to deserving charities, the trend will continue with all entries donated. Recipient charitable organizations are TBD. Suggestions are welcome! Categories for Judging: "Cheap & Wonderful Holidays"-- and the holiday 'categories' are "Autumn Colors", "Winter Holidays", and "Valentine's Day". The requirements are simple but challenging: Each Friendly Plastic® entry must have a coordinated jewelry and paper craft. For example, a jewelry set (minimum of two pieces) could feature a complementing gift or greeting card, invitation, announcement or other original papercraft. The challenge is to create a craft duo that showcases Friendly Plastic® as a medium for jewelry and paper. (The minimum number of jewelry pieces per entry is 2-regardless of whether it's a coordinated necklace, bracelet, (1) pair of earrings, or ring --- it's designer's choice which 2 + items.) Entries will be judged on originality and execution as Best of Show Award, Best Use of Friendly Plastic® Award, Best Autumn Entry Award, Best Winter Entry Award, and Best Valentine Entry Award. Awards: Each winner will receive: An etched crystal award with the image of their main craft item; $100 AMACO check with matching $100 check made payable to the charity or hospital of their choice; Gift Basket for 8 of creative products from AMACO; and a press release announcement issued to editors in the crafts industry. Winning entries will be published in our Craft Library. All entrants will be included in our on-line judging gallery. All winners will be featured in a Special Winners On-line Gallery. All entrants will receive free Friendly Plastic® Designer Sticks to replenish their stash! All Friendly Plastic® colors available right here on amaco.com.
