Tips for working with Craft Porcelain
1. Keep unused portions in zip-lock baggies. Remove all the air from the baggie before closing. You may also place a slightly moist towel inside to create humidity to keep the clay fresh.
2. Coat your hands with baby oil before working with the clay to prevent sticking. You can also use baby oil lightly on the surface to give it a sheen and smooth it’s appearance.
3. Keep the portions you are working on under a moist towel.
4. Craft Porcelain dries to a beautiful somewhat transparent sheen. You can use water color pencils to preserve the translucency of the clay and still give it a touch of color. You can also use acrylic paints on the clay for an opaque look.
5. If the clay dries too much while working with it, simply add a drop of water to your fingertip and work into the clay.
6. Craft Porcelain dries in approximately 24 hours. Do not let it come in contact with direct water or heavy moisture as this will degrade the clay. You can fix minor cracks by re-wetting the area, apply the clay into the crack and smooth.
7. As an air-dry clay it does shrink. The thickness of the clay does have a bearing on how much it shrinks.
8. Craft Porcelain can be sanded smooth.
